Vacation with No Camera????WOW

OK- so for the first time EVER- I left my camera at home…..went on a small 3 day vacation and didn’t snap one single picture…Is that even possible? Of Course I seen things that made me wish that I had my camera on me….Like my cute little Kaleb building sand volcanoes….and playing with the dead crawdad…..he thought it was alive and that’s all that matters…I would have loved to take some action shots of the water skiing and Jet Skiing, and all those fun activities that I used to do. I would have loved to take a picture of the sunset through the smoke filled sky. I would have loved to take a family photo to remember our vacation. I would have loved to take a picture of Kiana in her cute little Bikini with her tan little body. I would have LOVED to get a picture of Casey’s face when he realized how cold that water was. I would have loved to get a picture of the Turkey Vultures that are protected animals and that were swooping around our campground. I would have LOVED to get a star trail picture. And I would have Loved to get a picture of the kids eating their smores…BUT instead of Lugging around my big ol pro camera and gear…I actually enjoyed those moments with the kids…playing in the lake and making smores and watching the sunset and snuggling in bed with my kiddos. I’m super sad that summer is coming to an end. The nights are getting longer and cooler, and the mornings have a chill……even though I didn’t take 1 single picture, I have tons of memories and I’m sure my kids had a better time with mom, then with the photographer that normally goes on our family vacations with us…..I LOVE being a photographer, but I have to remember I’m a mom too…..thanks to my awesome customers who let me reschedule their Senior Portrait sessions so I could go on vacation and spend a few days with my family. If you happened to call me why I was away, please call again as my voicemail was full, and I wasn’t getting my messages

AMBER-Redmond Oregon Senior

It’s kinda like I wanna singa song…OH OH IT’S AMBER……but I think it’s OH OH IT’S MAGIC…..HAHAHAHAA- OK seriously I love LOVE this girls hair…..I need to take Curly Hair 101 from her……I’m pretty sure they were probably sick of me telling them that by the time the shoot was over….but why is my hair frizzy, and her hair is pretty and curly?…..there I go with my jealousy thing again…..HAHAHAHAHA

AMBER, is a 2011 Senior at Redmond High! LOVE LOVE LOVE the pics we got with the flowers! LOVE the colors!!! These Flowers will not last forever so If you are interested in having these pretty flowers in your pics, you better go here and make your appointment as soon as you can! ENJOY!

OH AND BTW-there was an AWEFULL thunder/lightning storm happening during these pics, but we got great pics! HEY, a little rain and lightning didn’t hurt us……..

“You can do anything you want”, “You have the world at your fingertips”, “Do what you wanna do”, “Be what you wanna be”……OMG- I’m my mother…….

YEP- I don’t know what comes over me every year at this time….It’s Senior Season….all these kiddos are getting their pictures done because it’s there last year of High School……I don’t know if I’m jealous of them or what, but it’s like I turn into some sort of walking self help book….I want to tell these kids what an awesome opportunity they have RIGHT NOW…to be 17 and 18 and take the world and tear it up….Travel, see new things, meet new people, don’t get stuck being nobody….what kind of mother am I gonna be when my kids are that age?

OK, I admit it….. I’m jealous…I want to travel and see new things and meet new people….I wanna live with mom and dad again and have a “mom and dad” again……I’m tired of paying a mortgage payment and car payment…..I wanna be 17 again…..I know that I’m choosing to not remember all the things that I thought were “AWEFULL” when I was 17….but were they really that bad? I really don’t think so….

The other day The Redmond Panthers hosted the Central Oregon Softball Camp. Girls came from all over to play and learn and OBVIOULSY have a great time! Here are a few of my Favorite pics from the day!

Last week I got the Opportunity to go and Photograph the Nichols Family! THE WHOLE FAMILY! Mom and Dad their 2 sons, and their families! WOWSA! It was a lot of work, but it went really well! That is…SHUT UP, as in OMG——-THESE ARE AWESOME!!!!! Abby and I went out last week and hit Downtown Bend, we had a great senior session and got a lot of AWESOME pics! What else do I love about being a photographer? I get to see Families grow….I do weddings, births, newborns, children, families, senior pictures…..then the cycle continues! I love watching people live…love…and laugh….it makes the world go round….

Alex is a Big sister now! When I first took pics of Alex she was only 6 months old!

Then I got to see Alex on “Family photo day” OMG she had gotten SO BIG!! Whitney and Nate also informed me they were gonna have another little munchkin too how exciting! This was in October 2009

Then last weekend I got to see Alex, who showed up riding her very first bike….WOW where does the time go? And she brought her new (6months old) little sissy Elliot to meet me also! Wowsa, what a great family they make!!!! Nate is gonna have his hands full in about 12 years with all those women in the house Congrats you guys!

These Next Collages are SO FUN to hang on your Wall, I really love them!!! They would be great printed on Canvas, they come as 12×12 or 16×16!!!!!!!

So a Couple weeks ago I got a phone call from a woman who wanted some pictures of her and her husband for their 50 year wedding anniversary. I didn’t know this couple, or how they knew me. I figured it was gonna be similar to an engagement session but didn’t know exactly what they had in mind. I met Jo and Lanny at the studio to begin with where she came loaded with ideas, and a picture from 50 years ago that she wanted to re create, and I think we did a dang good job of it! Talking to Jo, she told me that 50 years ago when they got married, they did not have a wedding photographer. All she has from her wedding day, is one picture of her and Lanny that her mom took. She was so excited to be getting professional pictures taken of the two of them after all these years! I love their story! Like I said, I don’t know them that well, but they seemed Madly in Love still after 50 years, you just don’t hear of that very much anymore! Congratulations you two! Lanny was the postmaster for a lot of years here in Redmond, so you may know him from the post office. I’m excited for you to get all your family together in one place to celebrate! I hope you enjoy the slideshow I made for you!

A lesson in Being Rude….

Stabbed in the Back, Lied to, Abused, Mistreated, Let down, Broken, Discouraged, Pissed off, Angry, Hurt, Sad, Humiliated……..Just some of the Emotions I’ve felt in the last week or so… Normally I’m not a big “lets talk about our feelings” type girl…BUT COME ON, there is only so much a girl can take. Also, I’m usually a pretty fun and positive person!

I’ve had Several things happen to me recently that really made me feel most of those words…..Most of them revolve around rudeness, just in general. It’s amazing to me how people can be SO rude, to someone who is being SO nice to them. I see this ALL THE TIME at the coffee hut (If you don’t know, I work at my moms Coffee hut also) Today a woman got raging pissed over her failure to look at my menu to see that a white chocolate mocha is .25 more then a regular Mocha…..She FREAKED OUT ON ME over a quarter. A FREAKING QUARTER!!!!!

Once I had a man get so upset over his expensive coffee that after yelling all sorts of bad words and names at me, he pulled up, opened his door and threw all his garbage from his truck out on the driveway in front of 5 other cars…YEP PLAIN OL RUDE!!!

I recently had an image I took critiqued by someone claiming to teach me something…..He Made fun of my image, it was plain ol Rude, I learned nothing from the critique, I can learn from my mistakes, I can even laugh at myself, but not when someone is putting you down and laughing at you, especially when they are supposed to be helping you (and I paid for this???) TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL IN EVERY WAY!

I have Several friends, friends that LOVE my work, and really value my work, friends that show off the pictures that I took to all their friends and family, in turn creating more business for me, friends that truly love me, believe in me and support me. I”m not gonna go in depth on this aspect because I really value those people.

I”m not a big Bible “quoter” However there is a Bible verse that people think about all the time that really gets overlooked in the world, Luke 6:31 “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” This is serious people! Treat your friends, family, co-workers, baristas, guy making your hamburger, guy mowing the grass at the park, people on the phone…EVEYRONE the same way you want someone to treat you when you come into contact with them. No matter where it is or who it is….. You affect other peoples lives, so a SINCERE smile and a GENUINE ”have a nice day” goes SO far with most people!

OH YEAH AND FYI if you are a big enough person to admit that you were TOTALLY rude to someone, you may think about going back and apologizing to them, I have had people do this before and it REALLY truly does make a difference to that person, and it speaks volume over the kind of person you are! We all have bad day, bad experiences, headaches, crazy children that drive us over the edge, but if those things have caused you to be rude to someone a small “I’m sorry about that time….” Will make you both feel better!!

Be nice tomorrow……
