About Jen

Some of the earliest memories I have are of my mom taking pictures of me when I was only 3 or 4, we would drive out to the wheat fields at sunset and I’d get out of the car with  my home made cotton overalls and my blond hair perfectly braided into two pig tails. Mom would tell me to “stand there and look pretty” and she’d take TONS of  pictures of me.When I was 12 or 13 mom had dad make one of the rooms in our house into a dark room, I always had her camera with me at school taking pictures of everyone. In High School, I was the photographer for the news paper. My BFF was in yearbook, and although many of the pics in the yearbook say “Darcey Whitaker” underneath them, they were really my pictures, HAHAHAHAHA, I always laugh about that. IN 1997 I graduated from Bend High, and Moved over to Eugene to go to U of O. Totally discouraged by the enrollment process at U of O, and unable to get into any sort of art or photo classes I put down my camera and didn’t touch it the whole time I was there. In 2002 I was married, and in 2003 had my first daughter, Kiana!  I Bought a new camera soon after, it was a Canon Elan 7E film camera, I swore I’d never go digital! I truly loved the dark room! But I was taking SO MANY PICTURES of my beautiful daughter I was going broke developing film…HAHAHAHAA

Then I bought my first Digital Camera, and Canon XTI it was $900 and I thought that a was freaking CRAZY! I couldnt figure it out, I couldnt figure out how to slow the shutter or change the F-stop and the color always looked off….I continued to use my film camera for some time….Then I figured it all out……

I WAS IN LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still have that Camera, and it’s still going strong It’s an excellent camera for someone who wants a DSLR. Of course I have since upgraded to pro equipment,  I don’t know why it took me so long to figure out that this is what I’m supposed to be doing with my life…….It’s like it was right there in front of me for as long as I can remember, but I always thought I had “bigger better” dreams….what was I thinking??? This is perfect for me, and this is what I love, and this is what I was put here to do!!!!!! I can not wait to take pictures of your special moments, the moments that your kids will remember, the moments that grandmothers cherish, the moments we don’t want to forget.
